Using SnapConnect to Get Your Documents In, Effortlessly

Every accounting app eventually asks you the same tiring question: where's the document?

From the very beginning, I believed the best data entry is no data entry. A business owner shouldn't spend the evening typing numbers off a receipt. So the story of how information gets into SnapLedger has, from day one, been a story about removing effort — one step at a time.

It started with a photo

In the earliest version, SnapLedger did one thing well: you snapped a photo of a receipt on your phone, and it was captured, read, and filed. On the web, you could upload a single file. Simple — and for someone on the go, often enough.

But a real business doesn't generate one receipt at a time.

Then came the folder

Soon our users came back from a trip, or reached month-end, with dozens of documents at once. Uploading them one by one was exactly the kind of busywork we were trying to eliminate.

So we added bulk upload: drag an entire folder of receipts, invoices and statements into SnapLedger, and let it process everything in the background. One action instead of fifty.

That was better. But I still wasn't satisfied — because even a folder means someone first had to collect, download, and organize those files. The work had simply moved earlier in the day.

The idea behind SnapConnect

That's when the real question became clear:

What if the documents came to SnapLedger on their own?

Most of your paperwork already lives somewhere — in your inbox, in your payment processor, in your exchange account, in the accounting software you're moving away from. Instead of asking you to go and fetch it, SnapLedger should quietly connect to those places and let the information flow in, read-only, by itself.

We call this SnapConnect. Open the SnapConnect Center, connect a source once, and from then on your documents arrive and get processed automatically — no uploads, no reminders, no folders.

More sources, one by one

We didn't build SnapConnect as a single feature. We built it as a growing family of connections:

• Email — receipts and invoices that land in your inbox are imported for you.
• Payment processors — your provider's record of sales, fees and payouts arrives as monthly statements that reconcile straight into your books.
• Crypto exchanges — trades, transfers and balances import as read-only statements, so your digital-asset ledger and cost basis stay complete.
• Accounting & ERP — migrate and import directly from your existing financial software. It's the same engine that brings your history across during Accounting Alignment when you first set up — and now it lives in SnapConnect for ongoing imports too. Today it supports QuickBooks and Zoho, with more platforms on the way.

And most recently, every SnapLedger account comes with its own private invoice email address on snapledger.ai. Forward an invoice to it — or ask a supplier to send it there directly — and it lands in your Vault, already read and filed. It's an accounting inbox, built in.

This is just the beginning

SnapConnect will keep growing. Bank feeds, more accounting and ERP platforms, e-invoicing networks, online marketplaces, expense cards, cloud drives — wherever your business information already lives, we want SnapConnect to reach it, securely and only with your explicit permission.
