French Freelancer Support Is Now Live

I once wrote about my friend Qianhui, a stage designer in France who runs as a Micro-Entrepreneur and pays a pro about €200 a quarter just to keep her declarations right. That taught us freelancers need more than an invoicing tool. So we've launched French freelancer support in SnapLedger: declare your Micro-Entrepreneur identity and SIRET in My Identity, track your filing cycle, prepare turnover declarations, and send or receive compliant e-invoices. The Freelancer plan starts at €7.99/month.

Some time ago, I wrote about my friend Qianhui.

She studied stage design in France and now works independently on exhibition spaces, stage productions, and cultural events. Like many freelancers in France, she operates as a Micro-Entrepreneur and must regularly declare her turnover.

Although the Micro-Entrepreneur system is intended to be simple, the reality can still feel complicated. In Qianhui's case, she pays a professional around €200 each quarter because she worries that a mistake could affect not only her taxes, but also the compliance records supporting her life in France.

Freelancers need more than an invoicing tool

Her experience helped us understand that freelancers do not just need an invoicing tool.

They need a system that understands their identity, income, filing cycle, and changing compliance responsibilities.

This is why we have now launched dedicated French freelancer support in SnapLedger.

Declaring your identity, once

An Individual user can declare their Micro-Entrepreneur identity and SIRET number in My Identity. SnapLedger can then organize their freelancer income and business records separately, track their filing cycle, help prepare monthly or quarterly turnover declarations, and remind them when action is required.

Electronic invoicing is part of the workflow

Electronic invoicing is also becoming part of this workflow.

Under the current French timetable, all businesses — including Micro-Entrepreneurs — must be ready to receive electronic invoices from 1 September 2026. Micro-enterprises must also begin issuing electronic invoices from 1 September 2027.

SnapLedger has integrated with an e-invoicing partner so that eligible users can send and receive compliant electronic invoices within the same system they use to manage their records and declarations.

What the plan includes

The Freelancer plan starts at €7.99 per month, with discounted annual and multi-year subscriptions. It includes:

  • The complete Individual plan
  • The French freelancer toolset
  • Up to 20 electronic invoices sent or received each month, where e-invoicing is enabled

The point

Our goal is not simply to help someone create an invoice.

Being an independent professional should not also mean becoming a part-time administrator.

It is to connect their identity, SIRET, income records, invoices, reporting periods, and compliance deadlines — so the person can get back to the work they actually set out to do.

Today's Insight

Freelancers don't just need an invoicing tool. They need a system that understands their identity, income, filing cycle, and changing compliance responsibilities — so being independent doesn't also mean becoming a part-time administrator.

Open Question

If you freelance, how much are you paying someone each quarter mostly for peace of mind that your declarations are correct?

Being an independent professional shouldn't also mean becoming a part-time administrator. Connect the identity, the SIRET, the income, the invoices, the deadlines — and let the person get back to their actual work.
