Building SnapLedger for Accountants, Not Just Their Clients

Most accounting software is built around one business using it for itself. But plenty of small businesses don't keep their own books, their accountant does. So we've introduced Managed Clients for SnapLedger Accountant Partners: one partner account that runs a separate, fully independent workspace for each client, standardizes the repetitive work, and keeps permissions and audit trails clean. We're building better infrastructure for accountants, not replacing them.

Most accounting software is designed around a single business using the system for itself.

But many small businesses do not manage their books independently. Their accountants collect the documents, reconcile the transactions, close the accounts, and prepare the financial statements.

Why we built this

This is why we have introduced Managed Clients for SnapLedger Accountant Partners.

An accountant partner can create a separate SnapLedger workspace for each client and manage those clients through one partner account. Every client still has its own books, documents, permissions, and financial records, while the accounting team can switch between client workspaces and perform the work they have been authorized to do.

Not more access — a better way to run a firm

The purpose is not simply to give accountants access to more accounts. It is to improve how an accounting firm operates internally.

Many recurring tasks follow similar patterns across clients:

  • Collecting documents
  • Identifying missing information
  • Reviewing transactions
  • Reconciling accounts
  • Preparing closing adjustments
  • Generating reports

SnapLedger can help standardize these workflows, automate the repetitive steps, and make the status of every client visible to the accounting team.

Permissions and audit trails

Permissions and audit trails matter just as much. A partner can invite team members as operators and control which client information and tools they can access. Sensitive actions remain traceable, while final accounting and tax outputs stay under professional review.

What it means

For small businesses, this means their accountant can work with them inside the same system, instead of exchanging spreadsheets, folders, and long email threads.

For accounting firms, it means SnapLedger can become more than a tool used to prepare accounts. It can become an operating platform for managing the firm's entire client portfolio.

Better infrastructure, not a replacement

We are building SnapLedger not to replace accountants, but to give them better infrastructure.

So that they can serve more clients, maintain consistent quality, and spend less time on repetitive administrative work.

Today's Insight

The purpose of Managed Clients isn't to give accountants access to more accounts. It's to improve how an accounting firm actually operates — standardized workflows, visible client status, clean permissions, and professional review over every final output.

Open Question

If you run or work in an accounting firm: how much of your week goes to chasing documents and repeating the same steps across clients, versus the judgement work only you can do?

We're building SnapLedger not to replace accountants, but to give them better infrastructure — so they can serve more clients, keep quality consistent, and spend less time on repetitive admin.
