Super Snappy as Your Front Desk

In Building Super Snappy I described three roles. Let me go deeper on the first, because it solves a problem every small business feels: the cold inquiry that arrives when you cannot answer. Snappy Front Desk picks up a message the moment it lands — on WhatsApp, under a name you choose — greets the customer warmly, and answers only from your own material, never inventing a price.

In Building Super Snappy I introduced three roles a business can configure Snappy to take on. Let me go deeper on the first one — the Front Desk — because it addresses something almost every small business quietly loses money to.

The message that arrives when you cannot answer

A potential customer sends a first message on WhatsApp. "Hi, do you do corporate events?" "What's your price for 50 units?"

It is a real opportunity, and it often arrives at the worst possible moment — while you are serving someone else, asleep, or driving. By the time you get back to your phone an hour later, the person has messaged three other suppliers and moved on. Nothing broke. You simply were not there to answer, and the cost is invisible.

A colleague who answers right away

Snappy Front Desk picks up that message the instant it lands. It introduces itself under a name you choose — "Hi, I'm Aya from Nirvana Events' front desk" — and replies the way a good salesperson would on WhatsApp: warm, direct, and short, two or three sentences like a real person typing.

Two things matter here. It answers only from your own material — your services, your price list, your past work — and never invents a price or a promise. And if a customer asks whether they are talking to a person, it never pretends otherwise.

It knows when to step back

The Front Desk is not trying to replace you. You can take over a conversation at any time, and a customer can ask for a real person whenever they like — Snappy brings you in and steps aside.

If you get pulled away mid-conversation, it does not leave the customer hanging; it keeps things warm until you are back. And every qualified lead lands in your customer book with the full conversation attached, so you pick up with all the context instead of a cold "sorry, you were saying?"

You keep the WhatsApp you already use

The detail I am most pleased with: you do not have to give up your existing WhatsApp. Snappy answers on a new, dedicated number, and when a human is needed the conversation is relayed to the WhatsApp you already use — you reply in the app you know, and it goes back out to the customer. Nothing is migrated, nothing is lost, and no laptop is required.

That is the whole idea of the Front Desk: not to automate away the relationship, but to make sure it always gets a chance to begin.

Today's Insight

Most small businesses do not lose customers because their answer was wrong. They lose them because no answer came in time. A front desk that never sleeps is not about automating the relationship — it is about making sure the relationship gets to start at all.

Open Question

Think about the last week: how many first messages from a potential customer arrived while you were with someone else, asleep, or driving — and how many of those people quietly moved on before you could reply?

A good front desk does not replace the personal touch. It makes sure that no one who reaches out to your business is ever met with silence.
