Say what you need

Finding a factory usually starts with a search box and a guess at the right words. In this lesson, Yusuf simply tells Snappy what Dunewood needs, the way he'd tell a colleague.

What you'll learn

  • Describe what you need in your own words
  • Add a photo
  • Check the requirements Snappy repeats to every supplier

Step by step

  1. Snappy Purchaser — Yusuf opens Snappy Purchaser. Everything Dunewood wants to buy better starts here. Snappy can also look through what Dunewood already spends and point at what's worth sourcing. Today, Yusuf knows what he wants.
  2. In your own words — He describes the fabric in his own words: grey, linen-look, made for sofas — how much he needs, and the price he's aiming for. And one thing done his way: rolls labelled with Dunewood's own item code.
  3. A photo — He adds a close-up photo of the fabric, so Snappy can see exactly what he means. Snappy works out what the item is, and how a buyer would search for it, then starts looking. That takes a minute or two — sped up here.
  4. The target's card — The target gets its own card, with the quantity and the price Snappy read from his words. The line beside the title shows where it stands: searching, the shortlist, contacting, quotes, done.
  5. Your requirements — Under it, the custom work Yusuf asked for. Snappy will repeat it in every message to every supplier, so it never gets lost along the way. He remembers one more thing, and adds it as a line of its own. Snappy knows what Dunewood needs.

Next: the shortlist — and how to tell which suppliers are worth a message.
