UAE e-invoicing on SnapLedger · Lesson 4 of 7

Change it with a credit note

Once an e-invoice is filed, it's a tax record. You can't edit it, and you can't quietly void it and start again: the change has to be filed too. In this lesson, that's one dialog.

What you'll learn

  • See why a filed invoice can't be voided
  • Credit part of an invoice, with its reason
  • Charge more with a new invoice

Step by step

  1. No Void — One of the two sofas Qamar Bay received was damaged, and it's coming back. On the invoice, there's no Void any more: it's filed, so the way to change it is a credit note.
  2. The credit note — Lina picks the reason: goods returned. She credits one sofa, not the whole invoice, and the VAT on it comes back too.
  3. Filed, pointing back — The credit note is checked and filed like an invoice, and it points back to the invoice it corrects, so Qamar Bay's books can match the two.
  4. On the invoice — On the invoice, the credit sits right under the total.
  5. Charge more — And when it's the other way round, and Dunewood charged too little, say for installing out of hours, Charge more starts a new invoice that names the first one. It's checked and filed like any other. No edits, no quiet voids, and every change filed.

Next: the e-invoices Dunewood receives.
