Receipts and the bank statement
1:19 · Captions: English, Arabic, French and Chinese.
A shoebox of receipts and a bank app that doesn't know what anything was for: that's how most freelancers end a quarter. In this lesson, Nadia hands SnapLedger her quarter in two uploads.
What you'll learn
- Upload a quarter's bank statement and papers
- See each paper matched to its payment
- Move work spending to your freelance side
Step by step
- Your bank statement — First, her bank statement for July to September. Every payment in and out lands in her books.
- Invoices and receipts — Then her two sales invoices and three receipts. Snappy reads each one and finds the payment it belongs to.
- Your freelance income — Her two client payments are already on her freelance side of the dashboard.
- Income and VAT, apart — Opened, the first payment shows how it's booked: her income, and apart from it, the VAT she owes on it, taken from her invoice.
- Work spending, on your freelance side — Her software, desk and printing were for her work. The VAT on each receipt is already set apart to reclaim, and she moves all three to her freelance side.
Two uploads, and her quarter is in order: every payment matched to its paper, the VAT set apart. Next, the figures for her VAT return.
