Why HR belongs in your books

Hi, I'm Snappy. This course is for anyone who runs a team — a workshop crew, a studio, the people in the office. Before the lessons, let's look at what makes staff hard to run, and what changes when your team lives in your books.

In most small companies, the team lives in a drawer: passport copies, visa pages, contracts — and a spreadsheet only one person understands.

A visa runs out, and nobody notices until the immigration counter, or a fine.

Every month the salary file is rebuilt by hand. One wrong code and the bank sends the whole file back. Late salaries bring the Ministry's penalties.

When someone leaves, end of service is worked out on a calculator — and argued about at the door.

And payroll never meets the books: a lump sum leaves the bank, and the accountant guesses what it was.

On SnapLedger, the team has one home. Their papers fill their records. Payroll makes the payslips and, for mainland companies, the WPS file. The bank statement finds each salary. And end of service follows the law, from the record.

Meet Dunewood: a furniture workshop on the mainland, and a small design studio in a free zone. Yusuf owns both. Lina runs the money — and from today, the team.

Eight short lessons: who runs HR, the team on one page, a new hire, leave, payroll with and without WPS, salaries in the books, and when someone leaves.
